Here are the answers to some of the Frequently Asked Questions, to which the answers may help others.

What is a `Gong Bath`?
A `Gong Bath` is a profound and individual experience.  Nesting down on mats and under blankets (and some people prefer to sit) , you are immersed in vibrations from sacred instruments.  The experience manifests a state of balance bringing mind, body and spirit together.  You may journey to higher realms where inner healing, clarity and spiritual enlightenment are possible.
Reducing stress, aiding relaxation and finding inner clarity all promote good physical health too.

Are Gong Baths different to `Sound Healing`, Sound Therapy or Sound Meditations?
These are all on the same spectrum of using sound tools to help mind, body and spirit.  Some may be focused on a particular issue, some may be on an individual basis or in group sessions, some may include longer guided meditations.

Are there any contraindications?
Whilst sound levels on these occasions rarely reach a level that can cause a physical problem there are some issues on which advice is required and which many sound workers would say are contraindicated.  Sound Baths may not be suitable :
  • If you have a pacemaker, and may affect other metal objects such as artificial joints
  • If you suffer from seizures of any kind
  • If you are pregnant
  • If you use certain hearing aids
You may contact us to discuss any of these issues.

Can children attend?
As most of our work now is concerned with taking participants on a deep journey, during which total focus (and quiet) is required, we have set an age limit of 14 years and over for our group sessions.  If we have worked with a particular young person previously and they have shown that they are able to focus quietly for an hour too then there may be exceptions.

Can `sound` be a cure?
We know that many physical and mental illnesses are caused or exacerbated by the stresses of modern life.  In addition, people who are more relaxed and balanced can recover more quickly from illness and surgery.  There are anecdotal narratives of people being cured of illness by sound and other holistic modalities.  Although not evidence-based there seems to be a lot of people who are helped in this way although the mechanism is unclear.

Note: Gong baths and sound meditations should not be  should not be used as a substitute for professional medical care
